Left Bank Gallery Essex is honored to feature recent work by internationally renowned and collected American landscape painter, Larry Horowitz.

Horowitz's keen observation of nature and sensitivity to the environment combined with his expert handling and expressive technique imbue in his paintings the essence and richness of the American landscape. Though Horowitz is often cited as a realist, his paintings are not merely representational - he manages to capture things which are unseen: atmosphere, emotion, sense of place.

Larry Horowitz's work can be found in many museums and corporate and private collections in the United States and Europe. He has exhibited extensively throughout the US. Left Bank Gallery Essex, LLC is honored to be the sole representative of Horowitz's work in Connecticut.

A solo exhibition will be on view July 1st - 31st 2010.

The artist reception will be held Saturday, July 3rd from 4-6pm.

"Pieces of Art from the Heart"

Girl Scout, Monica Vandehei, organized an amazing project for her Gold Award. Local students and fellow scouts created painting and poetry which was hung in the gallery for a special artist reception, June 9th. Local non-profit organizations were invited to select work to display at their facilities. Monica hopes the artwork will inspire everyone in the community for years to come.

time for a definition...

GICLEE:

"Giclée" is a french word derived from a term meaning "spray of ink." A giclée is a beautiful and artistically correct, museum-quality print generated on a high quality digital Iris printer. In the giclée process, a fine stream of ink (millions of droplets per second) is sprayed onto archival paper or canvas, which is hand-mounted onto a rotating drum, creating the fine art print. The giclée print has astounding precision and quality with exceptional color saturation and contrast.
